OriginLab® Offers New Option to Expand Single-User Academic
Licenses to Several Users

Academic researchers can now buy additional node-locked licenses for $99 to share their copy.

NORTHAMPTON, MA, January 31, 2005 - OriginLab Corporation announces a new academic pricing option that allows professors and academic researchers to easily share their copy of Origin with others within their department. Origin 7.5 is a software application that combines point-and-click interfaces for scientific graphing and data analysis with a powerful programming environment. For over ten years Origin has been widely used within industry and academia. Now OriginLab's new additional academic license option provides an extremely affordable method of providing Origin for several users. Meanwhile, for groups larger than 10, such as for department-wide licenses, Origin continues to offer custom license plans.

Since Origin now uses license management software, one must obtain a valid license file in order to run the product. The standard academic single license, the price of which remains unchanged, permits three license files per serial number for work, home, and a notebook computer. Now, at the time of purchase, the researcher can also buy additional single node-locked licenses, for only $99 each, to allow his or her copy of Origin to be used by others.

This new license option will make it easier than ever before to deploy Origin within a small academic department. Fellow faculty and/or graduate students can take advantage of Origin's wide-range of graphing and analysis capabilities. Over 60 built-in plot types allow you to quickly create 2D, 3D, contour, and image graphs. Advanced data analysis tools include statistics, signal processing, curve fitting and peak analysis. The Origin C programming capability combined with the numerical computation and graphing power makes Origin a robust platform for routine data processing, analysis, and algorithm development.

Pricing Information

The standard academic price of Origin is $489, which entitles the owner to use the product on up to three machines. However, now additional node-locked licenses may be obtained at the time of purchase for $99 each.

System Requirements

Microsoft® Windows® ME, Windows NT® 4.0 or later, Windows® 2000 or Windows® XP or later, 133 MHz or higher Pentium-compatible CPU, 64 Megabytes (MB) of RAM, a CD-ROM drive, and 130 MB of free hard disk space.
