OriginLab® Launches Viewer for its Scientific Graphing and Data Analysis
Software
Origin Viewer Enables Colleagues of Origin Users
to Easily View and Copy Data and Graphs
NORTHAMPTON, MA (February 21, 2006) - OriginLab Corporation,
a leading provider of scientific graphing and data analysis tools, announced
the launch of the Origin Viewer, a free downloadable Windows® application
that enables colleagues of Origin users to access the content of Origin project
files (OPJs). Origin users have long since realized the usefulness of the OPJ,
as it provides a way to organize and store related research work all in a single
file. Now, scientists, researchers and analysts who use Origin can share their
OPJ files with colleagues who do not yet use Origin - their colleagues simply
need only to download the free Origin Viewer to access OPJ content.
Within an OPJ file, worksheets, matrices, graphs, presentation
layouts, results and notes can be hierarchically organized into multiple levels
of folders as desired. The Origin Viewer provides access to this content using
an intuitive Windows® Explorer-like interface. The combination of the OPJ's
all-in-one file capability and the free Origin Viewer makes the OPJ a very desirable
file format to facilitate collaboration.
Instrument manufacturers whose software outputs data files can
now choose to have their instrument software save data using the Origin OPJ
format. They can simply use the same application support files that come with
the Origin Viewer in their own software. By providing the ability to read and/or
write OPJ files that contain their instrument data and any associated meta data,
their customers benefit by getting a greater measure of organization and versatility.
Key Features of the Origin Viewer
- Free application
- View the entire contents of an OPJ
- Left navigation tree displays folder structure of the OPJ
- Reads OPJs created with any version of Origin
- Allows copying of data, graphs and notes (graphs can be copied and pasted
as EMFs)
- Origin Viewer can run without installation, thus allowing it to be used
on more restricted machines
- Origin Viewer is small; it can even be attached to an email
- Examples provided for developers to write applications to create or read
OPJ files
