OriginLab Releases New Data Analysis and Graphing Software, Origin 2024b
Redo and Undo; Text and Object Improvements; Times Series Analysis; Create Graphs Directly from Image Window; ROI-based Data Extraction from Graph; Open and Save files from Sharepoint, OneDrive, and Google Drive; and new graph types and apps.
NORTHAMPTON, Massachusetts. May 15, 2024 – OriginLab, a leading publisher of data analysis and graphing software, today announced the release of Origin® and OriginPro® 2024b. This latest version of OriginLab’s award-winning software application adds 75+ new features and improvements, plus a suite of all-new Apps to extend Origin’s graphing and analysis capabilities.
Origin 2024b introduces a new Redo feature and improved Undo support to make the work experience smoother. Quickly reapply an action without having to repeat the steps manually with Redo(Crtl+Y). Undo support is extended to more places such as delete folder, change plot or object orders. Additionally a new Undo Window Positioning (Ctrl+Shift+Z) is added for better control of the workspace.
Editing and manipulating Text annotations and Objects is improved in this version. Improvements include: CTRL+Drag to create duplicate object(s) at a new location (similar to Powerpoint); Center, left, or right align a single object relative to page; Edit member(s) of grouped objects without ungrouping; Show Plots/Show Graph Object toggle button in Object Manager; and more.
Times Series Analysis is significantly improved to include advanced exploration, data manipulation and analysis of Time Series data. Convert long-format (XY) Time Series data into wide-format (XYXYXY...) and unstack data with a new Unstack Based on Time Interval feature. The new dialogue auto-detects a Date column in the source sheet and users can select from common time intervals (year, month, week, day, hour, minute), set Start and End in interval and date wrapping, and add additional label rows to identify date and time intervals of the sub-segments. Graphically explore time series data using the Time Series Explorer Graph template, available under the extended templates plot menu. While a Simple Time Series Analysis app was available in older versions, a more advanced Time Series Analysis app now includes tools for Trend & Decomposition, Correlation, Smooth, ARIMA Model, Stationary Test, Lag & Differences, Spectral Analysis, and Time Series Plots.
Graphing improvements include creating graphs directly from image window without the need to convert to matrix, and ROI-based data extraction from a graph where users can select data interactively on a graph and then extract to a separate worksheet.
Open, edit and save Origin projects from SharePoint, OneDrive and Google Drive now in 2024b. Connect to files on Sharepoint to import data. When opening projects, if the project is currently open by a colleague, Origin will open as read-only.
New Graph Types include Streamline Plot, Hierarchical Edge Bundling, 3D XYZ Floating Bar.
New Apps available for 2024b include Time Series Analysis, Tolerance Interval, Attribute Agreement Analysis, Gage R&R Study (expanded), Time-temperature Superposition, Signal-to-noise Ratio, Extract Ridge from Spectrogram, and ChemStation Reader. All apps are available at no extra charge from Origin’s in-software App Center. Apps allow Origin users to customize their software, choosing only desired tools from an ever-expanding list of Apps.
