OriginLab Releases New Data Analysis and Graphing Software, Origin 2023b
Float Windows Outside Origin Interface, Pin Windows, Browser Graph Improvements, Insert and Link SVG Images in Graphs/Layouts, Built-in LaTeX support with SVG Rendering, Legend Improvements, plus new Graphs and Apps
NORTHAMPTON, Massachusetts. April 27, 2023 – OriginLab, a leading publisher of data analysis and graphing software, today announced the release of Origin® and OriginPro® 2023b. This latest version of OriginLab’s award-winning software application adds 150+ new features and improvements, plus a suite of all-new Apps to extend Origin’s graphing and analysis capabilities.
Origin 2023b offers improved Window management. Float Windows outside of the Origin Interface, to take full advantage of desktop space and multiple monitors. Floating Windows have their own customizable Menus, Toolbar buttons, and Object Manager panel. Easily manage these floating Windows by keeping them pinned, drag to an active folder to move location, or use menu/hotkey to retract all to their respective folder locations.
Pin down any Window within the interface to keep it visible when switching between folders in Project Explorer. The original folder location is displayed on the pinned Window title bar, with a button to easily navigate back to this folder. Users can opt to hide pinned Windows when switching folders.
Browser Graph for multi-channel data exploration has been improved. A new Stack Lines template is available, several new controls on the left panel of the dialogue to hide and sort plots and speed improvements have been made.
Inserting SVG Images in graphs and layouts is now supported. Create drawings in external applications, such as PowerPoint, save the file locally as SVG and easily drag-n-drop/insert it to a graph or layout in Origin. Link the inserted object to the external file and any changes to the external file will automatically update in Origin.
Built-in support for LaTeX equations has been added in version 2023b. Equations are rendered as SVG, allowing for true vector export of graphs and layouts. Add equations to graphs, layouts, notes windows and worksheet cells.
Other new features and improvements include more custom Legend options; Improved opening of project files in monitors of different resolutions; Remembering zoom font size in Script window when restarting Origin; Export PDF using MS Print to PDF; and Easier pasting of CSV data to worksheet.
New Graph Types include Sankey Map, Stacked Bar Map, Double-Y Waterfall, 3D Double-Y/Z, Scatter Matrix with Grouping, and Sunburst Color by Level.
New Apps available for 2023 include Brain Atlas Analyzer, Chi-Square Test for Contingency Table, Power and Sample Size for Equivalence Tests, Abbott-Firestone Curve, Extract XY Data in Graph, Rainflow Counting, Sparse Principal Components Analysis, Generalized Linear Mixed Model, Gaussian Filtering in Surface Metrology, Flow Cytometry Standard Connector, and Nicolet WFT Connector. All apps are available at no extra charge from Origin’s in-software App Center. Apps allow Origin users to customize their software, choosing only desired tools from an ever-expanding list of Apps.
Origin offers an intuitive, point-and-click interface for new users, combined with a wide range of powerful functions for advanced purposes.
