Problem

Analysis of surface topography, to be used in multi-scale contact mechanics (MCM) and the effects of roughness asymmetry on the MCM analysis. The generation of the power spectral distribution (PSD) of the surface and its corresponding Hurst exponent.

Solution

Analysis was facilitated by programming of the calculations and by batch analysis of files.

Profile Plot of surface roughness vs. XY position. Auxiliary plots show power spectral distribution along an arbitrary line in X and Y dimensions.

Plot of the Hurst Exponent and overlay of linear fit results.
